Inside the Mayor's Mind: Q & A on Housing, Taxes, and Rental Rules - October 16

  • Thu, October 16, 2025
  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • I-Hotel, 1900 1st Street, Champaign, IL 61820

This month you'll hear directly from the community leaders of Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy during a candid lunchtime conversation on housing, rental property policy, and community development. This is your opportunity to engage directly with local elected officials about what’s ahead and how housing providers and city officials can work together to shape the future of our region.

Topics we’ll cover

  • Housing & Investment: Expanding affordable, quality rentals while supporting private investment
  • Incentives for Housing Providers: Upgrade programs, and energy-efficiency initiatives
  • Inspections & Enforcement: Streamlining processes, and boosting responsiveness
  • Zoning & Growth: Medium-density housing, ADUs (Additional Dwelling Units), and aligning city plans
  • Housing Provider Engagement: How to stay involved in city planning and ordinance proposals

Policy & Regulatory Questions

We’ll also ask how each city is addressing:

  • Tenant screening limits and short-term rental rules
  • Energy conservation incentives and cross-city coordination
  • Better notice and appeals processes for property owners

Be sure to include the questions you would like to ask of our Community leaders when you register by clicking the button below. Space is limited. Register early!
